1. What does the competition consist of?

Participants must submit, within the established deadline:

  1. A music video performing a selected song; and,
  2. A “Chinese Show” presentation video, in which participants must introduce themselves, recite a Chinese poem, share their reflections on classical Chinese poetry, or a personal dream for the future.

Note: BOTH videos must be submitted to participate; otherwise, participants will not be eligible.

2. Who can participate?

Students from primary and secondary schools, schools and universities in Latin America and the Caribbean, Confucius Institutes, Chinese-language teaching institutions, cultural and artistic institutions, Chinese-language students, and singing enthusiasts. Performers of Chinese nationality and/or whose mother tongue is Chinese may not participate.

3. How to participate?

Participants must register using the form indicated below, select a song from the official list, and submit their works. Songs not included on this list will not be accepted. For participation to be valid, they must simultaneously submit a music video and a short video in Chinese as specified in the relevant item.

4. Which songs can be performed?

Participants must choose one song from the “List of Songs of Poetry and Dreams” provided by the organizers. Songs not included on the list will not be accepted. For this competition, we have selected the following 20 songs:

We invite you to choose the song you like best and create an incredible music video!

5. What are the requirements for the music video?

  1. Perform a complete song in Chinese that comprehensively reflects the creative level of both the singing and the video.
  2. At least 2 people must participate in the performance; forms of collaboration may include duets, choruses, etc. All participants must appear in the footage while singing. They may play accompanying musical instruments.
  3. The recording must be made in horizontal format, using a mobile phone or other professional equipment. If a mobile phone is used, it is recommended to use a tripod, stabilizer, or other professional accessories to ensure recording quality.
  4. Video resolution: 1920 × 1080 or higher; video format: mp4 or mov.
  5. The appearance of flags, maps, trademarks, or other similar elements should be avoided. The work must not contain controversial or potentially uncomfortable content, nor elements that violate rules of social conduct, public ethics and morality, or social values.
  6. The video must include subtitles in simplified Chinese. The cover must contain the following information: song title, lyricist and composer, name of the original performer, name of the group performing the cover, and the names of its members (including their nationality). The upper-right corner of the video must be left clear.

6. What are the requirements for the “Chinese Show” video?

  1. The recording must be made in horizontal format.
  2. The performing group must appear on screen; the narration in Chinese may be delivered by one or more people.
  3. Video format: mp4 or mov.
  4. Resolution: 1920 × 1080 or higher.
  5. Duration: no more than 3 minutes.
  6. The video content must include, but is not limited to:

(1) Team introduction: team name, members, ages, length of time studying Chinese, etc.;

(2) Talking about poetry: they may recite Chinese poems they like and share their impressions of classical Chinese poetry;

(3) Talking about their dreams: they may share a specific dream, as well as feelings, reflections and/or expectations for the future.

  • The appearance of flags, maps, trademarks, or other similar elements should be avoided.
  • The video must include subtitles in simplified Chinese. The correct spelling of the names mentioned in the presentation must be carefully checked, and the upper-right corner of the video must be left clear.

7. Deadlines

  • Submission deadline: October 25th , 2026. Participants must complete the registration form and submit their works.
  • Evaluation stage: November 2026. Evaluation by an expert jury and online voting to select the “Popularity Award work”.

8. Participants and categories

Adult category and children’s category (for primary and secondary school students).

•          Under 18: submit authorization signed by their legal guardian.

9. Prizes

  • Adult category:
  • First place (1 group): US$400;
  • Second place (1 group): US$300;
  • Third place (2 groups): US$200 for each group;
  • Online Popularity Award (1 group): US$200.
  • Children’s category:
  • Excellence Award (1 group): US$200;
  • Online Popularity Award (1 group): US$200.

**Considerations**

Authorization for the use of videos and participation in the international project

By participating in the competition, participants are deemed to accept that the audiovisual works submitted may be used by Fundación CLEC (acronym for Center for Language Education and Cooperation) and its Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean for future competitions, dissemination and promotional activities, as well as other non-commercial purposes. The works participating in the Latin American and Caribbean regional competition will be jointly submitted to CLEC for inclusion in global activities related to “Learn Chinese by Singing”.

Online voting

Participants and online users must access the Regional Center’s YouTube channel page to vote online before 12:00 noon on November 30th , 2026, Santiago de Chile time (GMT-3). “Likes” on the video on the YouTube platform will be counted: https://www.youtube.com/c/fundacionclec .

Prize delivery

The prize will be sent via Western Union in US dollars (converted into Chilean pesos) using the exchange rate calculated on the day the prize is sent. The participant will receive the prize in local currency, after deducting bank commissions and other charges. Each winner must submit proof of receipt of the prize, personally signed or signed by their legal guardian, as applicable.

Rights and responsibilities

  1. The material must be original; any copyright issues are the participant’s responsibility.
  2. Submitted works must be original and created by the participants themselves in accordance with the requirements of each category;
  3. Participation in the competition does not involve any payment or fee.
  4. After the participating videos and materials have passed review, CLEC will send a confirmation message to participants within 3 business days.
  5. If other people participate in the video, their authorization must be obtained;
  6. Legal matters such as copyright, rights of reputation, authorization of participants appearing in the video, and other matters related to the work shall be the responsibility of the participants, who must ensure that the video does not infringe any third party’s copyright;
  7. By submitting their application, participants authorize CLEC to have the right to distribute their works online indefinitely;
  8. CLEC and its cooperating media have the right to reuse the works for exhibition, demonstration, and other advertising purposes, without remuneration or additional permission;
  9. Fundación CLEC – Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean is the organizer of the event.
  10. Participants are responsible for submitting all requested materials. Failure to provide the required materials will result in elimination from the process.
  11. Anyone submitting an application is deemed to accept the conditions of this competition.
