Model Class Contest for Local Mandarin Chinese Teachers – LATAM+C

1. OBJECTIVE OF THE CONTEST
The Latin American Competition for Model Classes of Local Chinese Teachers has as its central objective
to recognize the work of local Chinese teachers in our region. This work, although growing, is often carried
out in challenging contexts where Chinese language and culture are not predominant, and where
pedagogical resources are still limited.
Creating a model class will be an opportunity to share pedagogical experiences, reflect on teaching
practice, strengthen collaboration networks and contribute to the continuous improvement of language
teaching
Through this contest, local teachers will be able to systematize their work, share materials, show evidence
of their impact in the classroom and reflect on their professional development.
2. PARTICIPANTS
People who meet the following requirements may apply:
• Local Chinese language teachers who are actively teaching at an educational institution (school,
university, language center, etc.) in Latin America or the Caribbean.
• Prove teaching experience of at least one year.
• Attach a letter of recommendation from an educational institution.
3. KEY DEADLINES
• Launch of the contest: April 24. As part of the celebration of the UN’s International Chinese
Language Day.
• Publication of the rules: May 2 on the www.fundacionclec.org website and social networks.
• Reception of applications and materials: until August 15, 2025.
• Evaluation of materials: from August 16 to 30, 2025.
• Winners and awards ceremony: September 2025 during the Chinese Language Teacher Training
for Latin America and the Caribbean to be held in a hybrid format.
4. MATERIALS
The competition consists of the creation of a complete Mandarin Chinese class, developed by the
local teacher in his or her institutional context. Materials should reflect the integral process of design,
implementation, and analysis of a real classroom. There is no mandatory topic or level: each participant
must freely select the contents and level according to their teaching experience and teaching context.The materials will be organized into the following four main areas: Lesson Planning, Teaching Materials,
Product: Class Recording, and Teacher’s Final Reflection.
5. EVALUATION
The evaluation process will be carried out by a jury composed of specialists in Chinese language teaching.
The criteria to be considered are as follows:
a) Disciplinary and didactic mastery of the Chinese language.
b) Coherent and contextualized planning.
c) Pedagogical interaction and use of the Chinese language.
d) Creativity and methodological innovation.
e) Critical reflection on teaching practice.
f) Proper use of materials
6. AWARDS
• 1st Place: Trip to China as an attendee to the world edition of the contest “Chinese
Teaching Hero – 汉教英雄会” + USD $500 bonus
• Excellence Awards (3): $600 cash prize
• Popularity Award: $200 cash prize
IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS
• By applying, the local teacher accepts that CLEC Foundation will be able to disseminate his/her class
in institutional media, social networks or pedagogical exhibitions without additional compensation.
• Participation in the contest is completely free and does not require any registration payment.
• CLEC Foundation – Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean acts as the official organizer
of this call and reserves the right to validate compliance with the established conditions.
• The submission of the application implies full acceptance of the bases.
