The Center for International Cooperation in Language Education (CLEC Foundation) – Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean and its “Regional Training Center for Local Chinese Language Teaching in Latin America” are pleased to invite institutions and teachers from the region to participate in the 2026 Regional Training for Chinese Language Teachers, which this year will take place over two sessions: September 4 and 5 in Santiago, Chile, and October 15 and 16 in San José, Costa Rica, both in a hybrid format.
The event aims to strengthen the professional development of local teachers within the framework of the new international standards for Chinese language instruction, while also promoting the exchange of teaching experiences in Latin America and the Caribbean.
CLEC Funding
For each session, the Regional Center will finance the in-person participation of teachers, who will be selected based on their professional background, teaching experience, and commitment to language teaching.
CLEC funding includes:
International airfare (round-trip flight from the country of origin to the host city).
Accommodation in the host city (3 nights, double-occupancy room).
Meals as per the program: 3 breakfasts, 2 lunches, and 3 dinners (including the welcome and farewell dinners).
Expenses NOT covered by CLEC (to be paid by the teacher or their institution):
Transportation from the city of origin to the international airport (and vice versa).
Transfers from the destination airport to the hotel (and vice versa).
Travel insurance (mandatory).
Any additional costs incurred due to changes (voluntarily made by the faculty member) to the air and/or ground itinerary.
Any other personal expenses not covered in the preceding points.
Requirements for applying for CLEC funding:
Complete the application form (link below). Applications must be submitted exclusively via the form; applications sent by email or other means will not be accepted.
Attach an application letter signed by the director of the Confucius Institute or Language Center. The letter must be signed by the highest institutional authority; letters signed by other officials will not be accepted.
The final selection will be at CLEC’s discretion, based on available slots, budget, and applicant profile.
