International Congress on Chinese Language Teaching in Latin America and the Caribbean

Date: September 5 and 6, 2024

Location: Santiago de Chile (hybrid format)

The International Congress on Chinese Language Teaching in Latin America and the Caribbean is organized by the CLEC Foundation, Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean. It is an academic event of international relevance whose main objective is to promote the exchange of experiences, knowledge and good practices in the teaching of the Mandarin Chinese language in the Latin American and Caribbean region. This congress will be held in a hybrid format, allowing both face-to-face and virtual participation of speakers and attendees.

We invite academics, directors, coordinators, researchers, teachers, students and professionals interested in the field of Mandarin Chinese language teaching to participate in the International Congress to be held on September 5 and 6, 2024 in Santiago, Chile, or virtually through the digital platform Zoom.

Themes 

The papers presented must be framed in one of the following thematic axes in paper format (duration of 15 minutes):

  1. Innovative Methodologies in Mandarin Chinese Language Teaching: Exploring new pedagogical strategies and approaches to facilitate effective learning of Mandarin Chinese, such as the use of participatory technologies and methodologies.
  2. Development of Teaching Materials and Technological Resources for the Teaching of Mandarin Chinese:Presentation and analysis of innovative teaching materials, mobile applications, educational games, online platforms, and other technological resources designed for autonomous and collaborative learning of Mandarin Chinese.
  3. Experiences and Good Practices in the Teaching of Mandarin Chinese in Latin America and the Caribbean: Sharing successful experiences, lessons learned and models of good practices in the teaching of Mandarin Chinese in different educational and cultural contexts in the region.
  4. Mandarin Chinese Teacher Training in Latin America and the Caribbean: Reflection on teacher education programs, continuing education, academic exchanges, and other initiatives aimed at strengthening the professional competencies of Mandarin Chinese teachers in the region.
  5. Role of Culture in the Teaching and Learning of the Mandarin Chinese Language in Latin America and the Caribbean: Exploring the integration of cultural, historical, and sociolinguistic aspects in the process of teaching and learning Mandarin Chinese, as well as fostering intercultural competence in students.
  6. Challenges and Strategies in the Management and Direction of Mandarin Chinese Educational Institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean: Aimed at directors and administrators of educational institutions dedicated to the teaching of Mandarin Chinese, as well as authorities of ministries of education and other government agencies. Topics related to academic, administrative, financial and human resource management will be addressed, as well as strategies for the promotion and dissemination of the Chinese language.

Rules for the presentation of papers

To express your intention to participate, you must send the abstract of the presentation (maximum 300 words), including title, name, institutional affiliation and thematic axis to the e-mail andreamella@fundacionclec.org. The deadline for abstract submission is July 15, 2024.

Costs associated with domestic and international travel, accommodation, transportation, food, and others will be borne by each participant.
